Open Access

To emphasize its Open Science ambitions, TU Delft has created an Open Access Policy that makes it mandatory for all TU Delft researchers to deposit their articles Open Access as of 1 May 2016. The researcher must deposit at least the final accepted author’s version of a peer-reviewed article with the required metadata in the TU Delft Repository via the Pure research information system. PhD students are also obliged to deposit their theses and make them available via Open Access in the TU Delft Repository.

All Open Access activities are beneficial to the individual researcher, TU Delft and society and in line with our mission to deliver Science to Society.

Open Access has the following benefits:

  • It increases the academic visibility of researchers and has a positive effect on personal, faculty and the TU Delft wide citation scores and impact analyses.
  • It allows TU Delft researchers to be compliant with requirements from external funding sources (e.g. the European Union).
  • It increases the number of Open Access publications in the TU Delft Repository, accessible by others.

TU Delft participates in nationwide publishing agreements with an Open Access component. TU Delft researchers can benefit from these agreements. Visit the Open Access website to learn more.

To stimulate Open Access publishing amongst TU Delft researchers, TU Delft has created an Open Access fund that can finance all or part of the Open Access article processing charges.

Our Open Access aspirations are:

  • Make researchers aware of Open Access opportunities and requirements
  • Get researchers to commit to Open Access
  • Inspire researchers to publish Open Access

These are the current Open Access Publishing related activities:

  • Negotiate Open Access deals with publishers
  • Manage the Open Access fund
  • Open Access monitoring
  • Make faculties and researchers aware of the Open Access policy and Open Access opportunities and requirements by means of faculty visits and thematic events.
